Classical Musicians use Virtual Reality

Jonathan Girard, a 2018 Wall Scholar, discussed his work on virtual reality in music with City TV’s David Zura. Girard has headed cutting edge research, integrating virtual reality with music conduction with an aim to teach the next generation of conductors.
Jonathan Girard is the Director of Orchestras and Assistant Professor of Conducting and Ensembles at the UBC School of Music. During his tenure at the Peter Wall Institute for advanced studies, Girard worked on a graphical score and commissioned new orchestral works that explored sonic expressions of climate change.
