Collaborative UBC project on NBC News

This year the Global Reporting Centre (GRC) launched the Global Reporting Program, bringing together students from several disciplines to collaborate on a major research and reporting project. Their inaugural project, The Fish You (Don’t Know) You Eat, is an in-depth investigation of the global fishmeal industry. NBC News ran a documentary on Friday, and the GRC launched an accompanying multimedia project.
The Peter Wall Institute contributed to this project by funding a collaboration between former Wall Scholars Peter Klein (Journalism and Director of the GRC) and Xiaonan Lu (Land and Food Systems), to perform genetic testing on fish collected in the field.
