Andrea Damascelli
Wall Associate

Andrea is the Scientific Director of the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on the study of novel complex systems and utilizes spectroscopic techniques like time-, spin- and angle-resolved spectroscopy (ARPES) as well as optical and ultrafast spectroscopies to study the low-energy electronic structure of quantum materials.
Andrea has been honoured with the prestigious Sloan, Killam, NSERC’s Steacie Memorial Fellowships and the Humboldt Foundation’s Bessel Research Award. He is an American Physics Society Fellow, a US National Academy of Sciences Kavli Fellow and a Senior Fellow of the Quantum Materials Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. Andrea is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the Electronic Structure of Quantum Materials. His work has been recognized worldwide and has been instrumental in making Canada a frontrunner in photoelectron spectroscopy.
