Prof. Barbara McGillivray is a retired Professor from the Department of Medical Genetics. Her research focused on clinical genetics and research ethics. One area of concern was the incidence and differential diagnosis of gender abnormalities. The B.C. Health Surveillance Registry was used to ascertain the incidence and characteristics of hypospadias in B.C. Prof. McGillivray conducted DNA linkage studies on androgen insensitivity families. Other areas of research included, confined placental mosaicism and paediatric follow up; predictive testing and familial cancers; ethics of prenatal diagnosis and gender abnormalities.
