David Da Yong Chen

David Da Yong Chen received his BSc from Xiamen University in 1985, and his PhD from the University of Alberta in 1993. After a short stint as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, University of Alberta, he was appointed an assistant professor of chemistry, Faculty of Science in 1994 at the University of British Columbia, where he is currently a full professor. He has been an associate member in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine of UBC since 1999.  In December 2013, he was appointed a distinguished guest professor at the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center of Biomedical Functional Materials, Nanjing Normal University. Chen’s research interests include investigation of principles of fluid migration and chemical separation, development of novel separation methods and purification systems, strategies of interfacing micro separation systems to mass spectrometry, and the use of analytical technologies in real world applications in biomedical and environmental research.
