Dr. François Bonnetblanc is junior member of the French University Institute. For more than 10 years, he has been interfacing neurosurgery, neuroscience and neural engineering through original collaborations with Pr. Hugues Duffau (world specialist of awake surgery of slow-growing brain tumors; winner of the Olivecrona Price) and with Dr. David Guiraud (a French specialist of Neuroprosthesis and Functional Electrical Stimulation awarded from the French Academy of Science of the EADS Price). By combining these different scientific areas, they developed original work around cutting edge surgical procedures.

Prof. Bonnetblanc’s work focuses on psychophysical studies on goal-directed movements, posture on dyslexic children, coordination between posture and movements and rehabilitation on aged individuals, ocular saccade, neuroplasticity. At the methodological level, he perform works using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Electroencephalography (EEG), electro-corticography (ECoG) and electrostimulation. His current projects are now more oriented towards the study of the electrophysiology during brain awake surgery with a particular focus on the understanding of the electrophysiological effects of direct electrical stimulation.
