Dr. Joshua Gottlieb is an Assistant Professor at the Vancouver School of Economics at The University of British Columbia (UBC). His research explores the consequences of government policies in two main areas: health care and regional development. In health care, his focus is on the interaction between public policies and physician behavior. The results of this research are relevant to the optimal design of medical payment schemes, insurance contracts, and physician compensation. In urban economics, his research encompasses the three main determinants of regional growth: productivity, local amenities, and housing. This work informs policies regarding regional growth, housing supports, and local taxation.
