Sathish Gopalakrishnan currently serves on the PWIAS Board of Trustees.

Sathish Gopalakrishnan works on research problems related to the safety of cyber-physical systems (computing systems embedded in and interacting with the physical world). He is interested in techniques and tools for resource allocation and verification of correct system behaviour in such embedded computing systems. The broader context for his work relates to how we think about and develop dependable software.

Primary Recipient Awards

Sathish Gopalakrishnan – Wall Scholars – 2019

As a Wall Scholar, Sathish will explore questions related to how we, as individuals and societies, should understand risk in cyber-physical systems (CPS) and how that understanding can help us shape regulation and safety standards for the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in CPSs. He hopes to make connections between engineering, ethics and culture, and use that learning to identify how we can positively influence public policy in an era of autonomous CPSs. Sathish is also keen to use this opportunity to work with others at UBC to create a course on public policy for graduate students in engineering.
