Sihem Amer-Yahia has over 20 years of experience in research on data management, declarative languages and query processing algorithms, with an emphasis on extending traditional database technology and developing novel techniques to address new data management problems in emerging internet and big data applications. Prof. Amer-Yahia is a recognized international leader in research on models and algorithms for the management of data and largescale data analytics. She is the Research Director at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and the head of the SLIDE team (Scalable Information Discovery and Exploitation) at the Laboratoire d’lnformatique de Grenoble (UG). Before joining CNRS, she was principal scientist at QCRI, senior scientist at Yahoo! Research and member of the technical staff at AT&T Labs. She served on the SIG MOD Executive Board, the VLDB Endowment, and the EDBT Board. She is the first woman Editor-In-Chief of the VLDB Journal.
