Véronique Gouverneur secured a PhD in chemistry at the Université Catholique de Louvain (LLN, Belgium), under the supervision of Prof. L.Ghosez. She went to a postdoctoral position with Prof. R. Lerner at the Scripps Research Institute (California, USA); followed by a position as Maîre de Conférence at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg (France). She joined the chemistry faculty at the University of Oxford in 1998. Her research aims at developing new approaches to address long-standing problems in the synthesis of fluorinated analogues of natural products, pharmaceutical drugs and molecular [18F] labelled probes for PET imaging. She holds a tutorial fellowship at Merton College Oxford, teaching organic chemistry; and has been Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford since 2008.
