Asivak’s Own Creation Story is a play following the journey of OtTaNaFayCaSo, a quirky Inninew (Cree) boy and a spirited Inuk girl named Ikualaaq. They carry differing Indigenous world views, and their unexpected union forces them to overcome their differences as ancestral enemies. Spirit, a powerful shapeshifting gender fluid being uses their spiritual influence to bring these two stubborn souls together to fulfill a sacred prophecy.
The Enacting Culture/s film and performance series is the result of a collaboration between the Departments of Theatre and Film and Asian Studies at UBC, and is generously funded by the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies.
