Join us at the Peter Wall Institute for a book launch and reception featuring a new open access collection co-edited by Wall Scholar Mark Turin and political scientist Selma K. Sonntag.
After short presentations by the editors, we will hear from UBC Anthropology PhD student Maya Daurio who contributed to the volume, followed by a short reflection from SFU political science professor Rémi Léger.

Mark Turin is an associate professor of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. He is an anthropologist, linguist and occasional radio presenter. His research and writing focus on language endangerment, documentation and revitalization; language policies and politics; orality, archives, digital tools and technology, and Indigenous methodologies and decolonial practice broadly conceived.
Selma K. Sonntag is an affiliate professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she teaches courses on South and Southeast Asia. Her numerous publications on language politics in South Asia have appeared in Language Policy, The Journal of Commonwealth and Comparative Politics, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, among other journals.
