Unfortunately, this event has been postponed. We will make an announcement once it has been rescheduled.
April 22, 2020 will mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the birth of the modern environmental movement.
International Visiting Research Scholar Chris Chafe (Music, Stanford) is a world-leader in the field of data sonification – a process through which numerical observations are converted into musical tones. This Earth Day themed concert will highlight the sweeping changes that have unfolded over Planet Earth during the last half century. Earth Movement 86/50 was created using data drawn from a wide variety of earth science disciplines—including oceanography, forestry, glaciology, and atmospheric science—and represents both environmental change over the past half century, and future projections from numerical computer models.
