The ability to control the flow of heat is often crucial in electronics. For example, one needs to efficiently remove the unwanted heat generated in an integrated circuit, while restricting thermal transport is a key challenge in the process of conversion of heat to electricity. Nano materials and structures exhibit interesting and promising characteristics for thermal transport and heat localization. This school and brainstorming workshop brings together experts with a broad range of interests in nanoscale thermal transport, from materials and characterization to theory and applications, to discuss recent progress and combine different perspectives for tackling open questions such as strong localization in low-dimensional systems.

This workshop is partially sponsored by the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies.
