Deliberation – foundation for a modern African political philosophy

We hear a lot of news about African countries daily. However, it is not clear how we should think about politics in Africa. It is certainly not clear what the notion of African political philosophy means. In this brief presentation, Professor Okeja will attempt to address these issues. The goal will be to provide an account of a modern African political philosophy and point out its implication for the future.

Professor Uchenna Okeja teaches philosophy at Rhodes University and is a fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study. His research interests are in political philosophy, ethics, critical theory and African philosophy.  Professor Okeja is visiting PWIAS as part of the Institute’s partnership with the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies and the STIAS Iso Lomso fellowship programme.

Please register for this event by Thursday, November 1, 2018.
