Flooding triggers evacuation orders, alerts in parts of B.C.’s Central Interior

April 29, 2020

2017 Wall Solutions award recipient Lori Daniels (UBC Faculty of Forestry) spoke to CBC News about the flooding in B.C.’s interior. Daniels expressed concerns over the worsening conditions and increased soil erosion which resulted from the 2017 and 2018 wildfires. The fires destroy canopy tops, leaves, twigs and other organic material which makes it more difficult for the floors to absorb the water.

Daniel’s Wall Solutions award is being used to dentify the barriers to community participation in wildfire prevention and to co-develop potential solutions to increase participation in preventative wildfire management throughout B.C.
