Greening the Future of Outer Space

June 4, 2018

This week Smithsonian magazine profiled the upcoming establishment of the Institute for the Sustainable Development of Space (ISDS). The institute aims to bring together policymakers and researchers to work towards the bold visions outlined under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty and to address problems that are only now coming to our attention. The concept and funding for ISDS originated from UBC planetary physicist & Peter Wall Scholar (2016), Aaron Boley, during his residence at the Peter Wall Institute. ISDS’s first action will be to host a conference on space policy this November. Read the article to find out how the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies is providing resources to the most capable scholars in order to identify truly innovative solutions.
