Liberated Planet Studio Offers Free Space and Programs for Artists and Activists

January 10, 2023

2022 Catalyst Wall Scholar, Ayasha Guerin has launched the Liberated Planet Studio (LPS) located at The Dance Centre on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō, Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations, otherwise known as Vancouver, BC.

Supported by the PWIAS Catalyst Collaboration Fund, LPS will provide practice space and a free Saturday workshop series for artists and activists interested in ecological and movement research at the intersections of social and environmental justice.

Fourteen local and visiting artists, activists and academics will lead workshops. The project’s many collaborators will come together to experiment with socio-ecological concepts and collective movement practices. LPS seeks to mobilize discourse about the intersections of environmental and social exploitation, human and animal experience and intercultural planetary struggles for liberation from the extractive logics of colonial capitalism.

Along with the Saturday workshops, LPS is offering “Open Movement Sessions” on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting on January 17 — drop ins welcome
