The long-term biological effects of COVID-19 stress on kids’ future health and development

Dr. Michael Kobor will organize a PWIAS Roundtable on the Social Exposome in Child Health and Development. He co-authored an article describing how stressors arising from the COVID-19 pandemic may become biologically imprinted in children, leaving a lasting mark on child and adult health and well-being. For example, epigenetic changes associated with early life experiences can last into adulthood and may be linked to stress, inflammation and chronic heath conditions.
