2019 Wall Scholar Denise Ferreira da Silva wrote an entry for a collective piece titled “Thoughts of Liberation: Black scholars, activists and artists respond to the present moment.”

In her piece, Ferreira da Silva reflects on the role of creative work, as well as violence and its visualization.

Denise Ferreira da Silva is a professor and the director of the Social Justice Institute at UBC, as well as an adjunct professor of fine arts at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, and a visiting professor of law at Birkbeck University of London. Her academic and artistic works address the ethico-political challenges of the global present. Watch her explain her work in the video bellow.
