When crisis collide: Covid-19 and Overdose in the Downtown east side

2015 Wall Solutions grant recipient Lindsey Richardson was interviewed for a Q&A on how COVID-19 has amplified an existing public health emergency, the overdose crisis. Experts like Richardson have warned that the virus could devastate vulnerable populations. This Q&A discusses the importance of long term policy solutions to help alleviate the devastating effects of both COVID-19 and the overdose crisis. 

Lindsey Richardson is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at UBC. Prior to commencing her appointment in 2014, she was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in UBC’s Division of AIDS in the Faculty of Medicine and with the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. Her Wall Solutions project focused on evaluating the impact of alternative income assistance timing on drug-related harm.
